Special T structure technology

T structure Characteristics:

T means special gage protection for cone. For insert bit, a row of wedge trimmers is added between gage row and heel row compacts, and the crest of trimmer is oriented to be tangential to circumferential direction. For steel tooth bit, in addition to gage trimmers, the shape of steel tooth and build up material are also improved. Furthermore, inverse radius tooth corner is used for increasing buildup welding thickness, and composite hardfacing material with better crack resistance, impact resistance and wear resistance is used for buildup welding on cone OD. T structure technology can be applied to various standard bit series to form special bit series.

Functions & advantages:

With wedge trimmers, gage protection is enhanced, borehole wall with spiral rock ridges left by gage compacts and heel compacts can be trimmed, abrasion wear on gage compacts and cone shell is reduced, and previous passive cutting of the bit is turned into active cutting. Consequently, friction heat and bit torque are reduced and bit sealing is better protected. As a result, not only gage protection is improved and penetration rate is increased, but also the borehole wall is properly trimmed and drilling quality is improved.

Applicable drilling conditions: Bit with T features has excellent side cutting ability and is suitable for drilling soft to medium hard formations. It is the ideal tool for directional and horizontal drilling applications when fitted with bearing seal structure applicable for high RPM.
